Blackie Blogg-Up On Cripple Creek

And so we roll away from our last date with the Dave Mathews Band, the sounds of "Up On Cripple Creek" on the stereo. It's been a good if hectic couple of days. We've been recording a few tunes in a studio in Philladelphia with Steve (Los Lobos) and Dave, both very fine fellas indeed. It's been a great experience working with these guys and the results have been very rewarding.
The last DMB show went really well & people seemed to be getting down to the tunes. Another very fine & friendly chap as well Mr Mathews, it's been a pleasure being his guests.
So now we roll off to Toronto. We haven't been to Canada for some time now, so looking forward to getting back with those folks but first a 16 hr bus journey with a border crossing, oh well.
Goodnight.

What can you do with 16 hours?

• Take up knitting. By Toronto, you'll have a nice scarf. See if you can get it to stretch the enitire length of the bus.

• Write a country and western song about buses.

• Write an abusive country and western song about the dirty cheating Italians.

• Draw on everyone who falls asleep.

• Toot the horn at people on the side of the road, and when they turn to wave, wave in the opposite direction.

• Buy a packet of pegs... the type with the spring. Peg them to people without them noticing.

• Pillow fights.

• Write a story. Use entirely words beginning with 'A', until you get stuck, then move on to 'B', then 'C', and so on.

• Take a sleeping pill, and pretend your bunk is a TARDIS.

Hi. I'm just writing to say I picked up your new CD a few days ago. It's really great! I saw you guys in Chicago around the year 2000. Terrific show - hope to see you guys again.

Keep it up, and enjoy your trip to the great continent of North America. And now that Team U.S.A. are currently swimming back to America, apparently having failed to show up to actually play soccer in Germany, GO ENGLAND!

I loved your set in Toronto, as always. I had a chance to talk to Danny from Slow Runner and explained the aloof Toronto crowds - and that one of the reasons I love you guys is the crowd always seems to forget they should be standing very still, quietly nodding their heads and gradually proceed to lose their shit when you start rocking out. Thank you so much for coming.
